Interventions Week 8

This was an exciting week in my Interventions in Biomedical Sciences course! We got to work in finalizing our search in finding a mentor to guide us in our research of our Field of Interest this year. I am very thankful that Justin Edmondson, a Physician's Assistant at Springhill Hospital's Emergency Department has agreed to be my mentor this year! I will be meeting with him this afternoon to discuss his field briefly, so I am very excited. Stay tuned for an update on that interview today! He was the first person that I reached out to, making me extra lucky in my pursuits as well. His wife, Nurse Julie, works at our lower campus, and was very helpful in giving me his information to reach out.

We stayed busy in class this week as well. We continued our research for our papers in putting together notecards about the technology in our fields. I learned a lot of fascinating information about the trials being put in place for the use of AI in the Emergency Room. We also did a time managment activity to learn about how much free time we have and know we should be spending it. I learned that if I slept the required eight hours a night, that I would only have thirty minutes of free time outside of my obligations. This was definitely eye-opening, and I realized that to stay ahead, I might need to stay off tik-tok some! Overall, this did make me realize though that I am at least sticking to a schedule well and staying on top of my work because of it!

I am excited about what the future will bring in studies this year, and I can't wait for my interview with Mr. Edmondson!

(Look at me go in this picture from SHC last week!)
