Interventions Week 2

This week was the second full week in our Interventions Biomed class. On Monday, we officially declared our field of interest for this year of study. I have decided to dedicate my year to the study of Emergency Medicine. After we landed on our final decisions, the class participated in a discussion post project. The rest of the week we spent dedicated to independent work, working on creating videos to display our knowledge about suture knots that we learned last week and working on proposals. These proposals are a formal request to study a particular field sent to our Biomed committee. This committee, made up of various current/former school staff, determines, based on our proposals, if we are fit to pursue this field of study this year.

On Thursday, we participated in an a skills lab. In this lab, we were given various instructions to draw on, cut, and stick toothpicks into an apple. This instructions included verbiage we were not too familiar with, but are common terminology in the medical field. Once we were finished with all the instructions it was revealed that all this symbols and lines we were drawing were actually supposed to be creating a mock human with eyes, ears, hair, a nose, a mouth, arms, and legs. I will say that looking at my apple, you'd have no idea it was a human! I did learn a lot about anatomical terminology and positioning in the process, though. Below are some photos of the progress of my apple human.
